Make the controls yours
A supported controller is only useful when its buttons map correctly. Android gamepads may connect over Bluetooth or USB-C; an individual port decides how it reads them.
Start with one input method
Connect the controller before launching the port if its instructions recommend it. Use the app’s input settings to map directions, buttons and triggers. Check menu navigation as well as gameplay.
A five-minute control check
- Verify left and right stick direction and dead zones.
- Check that triggers are recognized as the expected buttons or axes.
- Try pause, back and menu actions.
- Disconnect and reconnect once, then confirm your mapping persists.
- Save the profile if the app offers multiple layouts.
Touchscreen layouts
Where supported, adjust overlay size and placement without covering information you need to see. Test portrait/landscape transitions if the project supports them. A catalog’s controller badge does not imply touchscreen support; those fields are tracked separately.
